By the time I’ve reached the smoke rising in the distance,
they are all angry.
Clouds talking in low voices and a flash of light flying in.
We try not to tremble.
We hold hands before we know and run like sliding.
At last we ask names.
On some date at some time at some place,
we promised and kissed.

And the fire flickers in the state-owned apartment.
Some look on at the bank that caught on fire
but was soon extinguished.
A lozenge table has a crack like the heart
and in the mirror that sees only flaws are two bruised apples.
Four days ago, two young persons with flaws that no money
had a short kiss and lingered by the window.
